Luis Avila Named to Pahara Institute’s New Class of Leaders in Education
WASHINGTON, DC - Luis Avila, a Vice President at 270 Strategies, was selected to join the Pahara Institute's 2015 NextGen Network. The Pahara Institute is national nonprofit organization focused on organization focused on supporting sustainability, diversity, and quality leadership in the educational excellence and equity movement. The NextGen Network brings together a diverse group of 24 leaders in the education advocacy field to discuss ideas for improving and expanding education opportunities, particularly for underserved communities.
"I am honored to join such a diverse and dedicated group of leaders in education," said Avila. "I'm excited to get the conversation going and continue the fight for quality education for all. Together, we can create real change in communities across the country."
Luis serves on the board at the National Council of La Raza, the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States. He was the National Program Director at Stand for Children, an education advocacy organization, and was named one of 40 Hispanic Leaders Under 40 by Latino Perspectives Magazine for his work in education and parental involvement programs for low-income families. Luis co-founded the Isac Amaya Foundation, which provides resources and information for students attending college or university in Arizona, regardless of their immigration status.
