Ben Finkenbinder is the Senior Communications Manager at 270 Strategies. Ben joins 270 Strategies having most recently been the Communications Director for Regional Media at Organizing for Action.
Ben was a member of the senior leadership team at Organizing for Action where he helped lead the long term communications planning and implementation of communications strategy, including rapid response, crisis communications plans, and message development for issue and social media campaigns.
His career in communications began as an early hire on the 2008 Obama for America campaign. Ben woke up at 3 AM every day as a media monitor and went on to finish the campaign as a Traveling Assistant Press Secretary accompanying then-Senators Obama and Biden.
After the campaign, Ben was a press aide during the transition and in the West Wing where he continued his travels with President Obama and the national press corps. He has visited over 40 states and over 27 countries with President Obama.
In 2012, Ben returned to the campaign trail where he was the Obama Campaign’s Midwest Regional Press Secretary and spokesperson, managing communications operations in the key states of Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota and the President’s home state of Illinois.
He earned his B.A. in Political Science at Macalester College in St. Paul, MN where he was on the golf and basketball teams. Ben is a life long Indiana Pacers fan and is ready for the men and women's US Soccer teams to bring home the World Cup. He currently lives in Chicago where he plays basketball, golf and soccer, but still calls D.C. home.
